Ride for Kids Sake is our annual charity motorcycle ride throughout scenic Niagara that supports our Game On group mentoring program at Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines-Thorold & District.  Ride for Kids Sake is one of BBBS’ four signature eventRIDE_LOGO_2015s that support their programs.

The community is encouraged to join in on the fun to volunteer, participate, and generously donate to support the 900 children and youth we serve annually.

As Canada’s leading child and youth mentoring charity, BBBS facilitates life-changing relationships that inspire and empower children and youth to reach their potential, both as individuals and as citizens.  Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines-Thorold & District is a community-based youth mentoring organization committed too helping children and at-risk youth become happier, healthier, and more self-confident through nurturing, caring, and support.  We are incredibly grateful to our generous community sponsors, donors, and attendees who have supported us over the years.  We continue to offer our programs free to the children and families that need our help and strive to ensure that every child who needs a mentor has a mentor.

The costs of the Game On! Program range from supplying nutritious snacks, activity bins, volunteer recruitment, training and match support by a professional Caseworker annually.  It costs $650.00 for a young boy to participate in the Game On! Program for one complete session.  The demand for this program has increased 5% annually.  The challenge for us will be to address the widening gap between what we can do and what we can afford to do as the program receives no sustainable funding.

Through the combined efforts of individual donors and corporate sponsorship, we raised enough money to change the lives of vulnerable young boys by removing them from our waitlist.  But our work is ongoing; there are still hundreds of boys anxiously waiting to be matched with caring mentors.

Ride Collage 3

2016 marked our fourth year for this event and the third year to feature actors from the hit HBO
series, Sons of Anarchy.  In 2016 we travelled to Port Dover with Kim Coates (Tig).  We raised over $12,000.00 to support Game On! and made many SOA fans happy.  Our top 5 fundraisers had dinner in beautiful Port Dover with Kim!
